Hints of this change are present on the Deluxe program’s packaging, but in a very obscure way. Disclosure: I’ve been a long-term user of TurboTax and I do file some of these schedules, but I haven’t done my taxes yet this year. The others cover profit or loss and business expenses from a sole proprietor business, such as a home business (C) income from rental property, royalties or partnerships (E) and farm income (F). Schedule D is used by anyone reporting capital gains or losses from stock or bond sales. And to a large extent they probably can coast on the success of the previous versions, but the legacy of superlative customer service is at an end, as far as I can see.Users of the TurboTax deluxe edition, which sells for a list price of $59.99 but can be found almost everywhere for $49.99, have discovered that for the first time, the program won’t allow them to file tax schedules C, D, E or F automatically with their tax returns. and included most of the basic forms needed for self-employed individuals.

After the 2014 fiasco of removing functionality from the Deluxe product to force users to upgrade to Home and Business, Intuit has learned their lesson. I am basically a one-woman business with one 'employee' who helps me out one day a week, seasonally, and is paid as a contractor - shouldn't be too complicated, but apparently it is. Intuit seems to think that their 'Community' page is an adequate substitute for real tech support - not so.Īs far as I can make out, the Deluxe version does *not* allow users to submit 1099-misc forms for payments of contractors I threw up my hands and used a hardcopy form. I had thought this was only an issue in the Deluxe version, but someone posted on the Intuit customer help page that it is happening on Home and Business as well. However, the entry process for *received* 1099's tends to send users into an infinite loop, which so far Intuit has been slow to address. Overall Review: If you don't need to either send or receive the 1099-misc form, you should be fine. I doubt if there's a better package out there (alas) Mostly works like previous years (aside from 2014) Pros: Schedule C is available in this version again Maximize charitable donations with ItsDeductibleĪdditional Information Date First Available
